About the Book
Do It Yourself, Publishing Nonfiction In Your Spare Time was written in response to a request from a friend for a simple, bare bones approach to beginning publishing. He needed something simple for a person who wants to publish his writings, but was looking for some way to do it easily, inexpensively and in his spare time.
When I first got into publishing, I spent a lot of time searching the web and reading to find out how to become a publisher. With what knowledge I gained from books by experts such as Dan Poynter and Brian Jud, and time spent learning my trade, I was able to build my own publishing house. I did it myself and I believe that anyone with the right tools and motivation can too.
This book is arranged in a simple step-by-step lesson form, with a ‘To Do’ list at the end of each chapter. The chapters are meant to help the beginner produce a simple, professional looking book, with illustrations, to get it into a form that can be sent to a book printer for production, and some methods to market the book once it’s done. These are very basic steps and not intended to cover all aspects of self-publishing.
I hope that this book will help you, the reader, get your book published and selling.
